I listened to Martin Sage on relationships the other day and was left wondering …
On the show he makes the comparison between our world today (with regards to relationships) and the world millions of years ago, when we lived as primates and the rules were very simple and well defined. With evolution the rules of mating changed and people’s habits changed accordingly. Moving up in time more and more changes occurred and they happened slowly enough for people to adapt.
In today’s world changes are happening so fast that it is hard to keep up. A lot of us are confused and overwhelmed when it comes to relationships. We are trying to live in a new world with our old habits and our old patterns of thinking and they just don’t fit anymore.
After listening to Martin’s talk I could not help but thinking that this also applies to the rest of our lives. Aren’t we approaching a new reality with our old ideas of how the world ought to be? Isn’t it time to let go of old habits like jealousy, competition, skepticism, judgment, working hard, thinking in terms of scarcity, preventing others from having what they want, etc.?
Changes are happening faster and faster. Anything you want is at your fingertips. More and more people are living proof that you can have everything you want. You don’t have to be smarter, better, richer, faster or more special. You have everything it takes. Maybe it is time to embrace the new possibilities and live with joy, pleasure and freedom? How would a world like that be?
