Do you know what makes a brand special?

What sets it apart from the competition and creates attraction?

Successful brands highlight and accentuate their differences. Instead of blending in, they stand out. They emphasize their intrinsic values and point out their singular attributes.

Think about Mercedes Benz. High quality German engineering, luxury, safety, comfort, elegance, reliability and a high price tag. It’s what makes driving a Daimler a unique experience.

You have one thing already going for you. You are naturally special. Among the seven billion people on this planet no-one is exactly like you. Not one single person. That’s pretty amazing.

The question is, what are your unique qualities? How are you different? What sets you apart from the rest of the world and how can you turn your individual characteristics into your personal brand?

Here is the trick, you have to nail every single one of your unique qualities and turn them into your own best assets. You must accentuate your diversity, relish being incomparable and embrace your contradictions.

If you try to be somebody you are not, it won’t work. You will either come across inauthentic, confusing or bland.

Here is the challenge. It’s hard to see yourself for who you are. It’s far easier to see the beauty in everyone else. Looking in a mirror won’t help you and using your brain to figure it out isn’t going to work, either.

So, what can you do?

One of the most effective ways to understand what makes you special is by asking others for feedback. Find out what it is they like about you. What do they consider your best attributes? How are you different? What sets you apart? How are you looking at the world in ways others don’t? What is your personal brand?

My tip, take the answers to heart. Don’t brush them off as nonsense. Especially if they sound too good to be true.

Once you start to embrace your differences and highlight them, your life will change in dramatic ways.

It will get easier and more fun, making you happier, more relaxed and more self confident. You’ll stop searching for what you want and start attracting it instead. Life will become magical. You’ll become more beautiful and magnetic, looking and feeling younger and more attractive. You’ll meet the people that are significant to you and you’ll start to create a lifestyle that’s in tune with who you are.

To help you get started, here is a question: Who do you think is doing a good job of self-branding? What is that person doing that makes him or her attractive?
