The one thing I don’t like about being a coach is this:

Out of ten people I work with, only two or three take the steps necessary to create the change they say they want.

The others hire me, pay me, listen to me—and then do nothing.

For a long time, this devastated me. I wanted to make a difference for everyone. I wanted people to have fantastic lives, successful businesses, vibrant relationships, and fulfilling careers.

So I did everything I could. I guided my clients, supported them, created projects with them, provided them with powerful tools, and cheered them on.

But there was one thing I could never do.

I couldn’t take the steps for them.

Fear Is Part of Being Human.

Most of us struggle.

We hesitate. Hold back. Doubt our own greatness.

Yet something else is equally true: every one of us has the power to create a better life.

You can create the change you long for. You can build a relationship that nourishes you, start a creative venture, or design a life that truly feels like your own.

I know this because I’ve done it.

And while the journey was daunting—and at times terrifying—it was also the most thrilling, exciting, and rewarding experience of my life.

Be honest with yourself.

Do you sometimes feel a desire for more excitement, adventure, or wildness in your life—yet hesitate when it comes time to take the necessary steps?

If so, that’s perfectly human.

And perhaps you already enjoy the life you’ve created. Not every life needs to be reinvented.

But if you truly want to create a better life, you must be willing to do what it takes to make it happen.

Two Steps You Can Take Right Away

Change Your Ways

Alter your routines. Shake up what has become predictable.

Always running late? Surprise people by arriving early.
Complaining is your go-to communication style? Challenge yourself to find something positive to say instead.

Learn to appreciate your life—and the people in it—by consciously noticing what’s good.

To help you stay on track, place sticky notes on mirrors, doors, your computer, or your dresser. Let them remind you to stay positive and focused.

Make it a game.

And under no circumstances should you believe the voice of your inner critic.

Change Your Look

This is a surprisingly powerful way to create momentum: change how you present yourself.

Dress differently. Experiment. Have fun.

If you normally wear flats, try high heels.
Black and blues dominate your wardrobe? Dare to wear red.

Try a new haircut. Wear different sunglasses. Carry a bag that feels playful or bold.

As with everything else, the goal is simple: choose what makes you feel alive.

Six Steps to Create a Better Life

Develop a Burning Desire

Many people have forgotten what truly makes them happy.

Rediscovering what lights your inner fire is one of the most important steps in creating a better life.

Take time to explore what you genuinely love doing.

Everyone has a passion.

Deep down, you already know what you most want. Sometimes it simply takes courage—or the guidance of someone who can see through your fears and speak directly to your heart.

Take Bold Steps

Fear is part of being human. It protects us from real danger.

However, it also appears whenever we attempt something meaningful.

Instead of waiting for fear to disappear, learn to outsmart it. Engage in projects and activities that excite you so much that the voice of fear grows quieter.

Create an Action Plan

Knowing where you want to go is the beginning. Courage helps you take the initial step.

First, you need a plan.

Break your journey into clear actions that keep you moving forward. Set goals that inspire you.

If you thrive on risk, take bold leaps.
If big leaps overwhelm you, take smaller, steadier steps.

Both paths lead forward.

Practice Discipline

Follow through.

There will be moments when you want to give up. Don’t.

Instead, adjust your goals if necessary.

At the beginning of the year, I decided to write 500 words every day. After a few months, I realized the goal was too ambitious and was draining my motivation.

So I changed the plan and wrote every other day instead.

It was far more sustainable—and I was happier with the results.

Surround Yourself with Support

Find people who believe in you.

Whether it’s a spouse, a friend, a coach, or a group of like-minded professionals, supportive relationships make a tremendous difference.

And remember: support others as well. Encouraging often strengthens your own path in surprising ways.

Enjoy the Journey

Keep life enjoyable.

If what you are doing stops being fun, pause for a moment. Step away. Take a walk, run an errand, or make yourself a cup of tea.

Add more of what you love into your life.

Dance. Laugh. Play with your children. Invite friends over. Celebrate small victories.

A meaningful life feels alive.

Pause For a Moment

Take a minute and ask yourself:

What is one small step I could take today to move closer to the life I want?

Write it down.

Then decide when you will take that step.

Small actions, taken consistently, have the power to change an entire life.

I’d love to hear from you:

What is one change you’ve been thinking about making in your life?

Sometimes simply naming it can be the first step toward making it real. If you feel like sharing, email me here.

As always, thank you for reading.
