The Way You Look At Things …

Have you ever seen the world through someone else’s eyes?

I have a friend who loves L.A. Whenever I drive through town with her I experience a different kind of city. The colors are brighter, the palm trees taller and there is a special beauty everywhere.

Don’t get me wrong, I like L.A. I really, really do. But my friend, she loves it and whenever I am with her I see the city through her eyes.

I am sure you have experienced this at some point as well. You talk to someone and are surprised how smart you all of a sudden sound and how well you are expressing yourself. Or, maybe you experience the opposite and find yourself struggling for words. English is my second language and I speak it with a (slight) accent. Whenever I am with someone who thinks that my pronunciation is really bad it gets worse very quickly. It may sound strange, but it actually happens.

Wayne Dyers says, “If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”

In coaching this is essential. The way you perceive others is extremely sensitive and has an influence on who they will become. A good coach sees a person for who they want to be and not for who they think they are. Coaches look through the false image most people have of themselves. We look for the beauty, the brilliance and the soul in a person and bring it to the surface.

You can do that, too. You have the power of making the choice of seeing the best in every person you meet. You can see beauty and magic all around you and turn it into reality. It’s the ultimate adventure and a way to create who you really want to be and the life you dream to live.

What is your experience? Have you ever created something with the power of your imagination? I’d love to find out.
